The Island of Bimini

The island of Bimini is located in the western most district of the Bahamas according to Wikipedia.

If you travel by boat for approximately 53 miles east of Miami you will run into the island of Bimini. The island is the closing point of the Bahamas to the United States. It has a population of approximately 1600 people.

The island of Bimini is famous for big game fishing. Snorkeling and scuba diving are a very popular sport here also as there are many shipwrecks that surround the island. Chalk's airlines operates seaplane flights from Miami harbor to the island it is one of the oldest airlines in the United States. One of the most famous residents of the island was Ernest Hemingway worked on several of his novels while living at the Angular Hotel.
