The Atlantis in Paradise Island Bahamas

One of the beautiful places that I have been is the Paradise Island in Bahamas. This place is also known as the Hog Island. From Nassau Harbor, it's about $5 for a van ride and about $3 for a boat ride. I prefer the latter because it is exciting to see the beautiful view and it is a pretty safe ride. The Atlantis which is located in Paradise island is truly a grandeur of beauty!

We were inside the Atlantis and it was truly wonderful! There were areas exclusive for Resort Guests and all their amenities are beyond beautiful. Atlantis has extensive water park rides, pools, beach, walk-in-aquarium and more amazing amenities.

 

The cheapest rates for winter is $244 / night with 2 person occupancy. Expensive huh? Well, their summer special is $226 / night with 2 person occupancy too. Prices vary in which accommodation you booked: Royal Towers, Coral Towers, Beach Tower, The Cove Atlantis, The Reef Atlantis, Harborside Resort, and Suites. The latter is truly a luxurious accommodation. Unbelievable price which fits for a king! Not in my lifetime will I ever can afford!

Try to check out the prices at atlantis.com and though to stay in one of the rooms in Atlantis is in my bucket list, I wouldn't count on that unless I win a billion in Lotto.  

If you want to visit the Bahamas and in no way can't afford to stay in Atlantis, don't worry. There are hotels, bed and breakfast, condos as well as apartments which you can rent for a short or longer accommodation. But, if you want to access all the amenities of Atlantis, better book your stay in this resort.

Bioluminescent Bay in Puerto Rico

Have you ever watch that movie Life of Pi? Do you remember this scene? How amazing isn't it? The ghostly image down below the water is just incredible! Do you think this is real? If it is real, what makes it glow? Is there a place to visit just to experience this amazing wonder? As a matter of fact, there is and the most famous place is found in Puerto Rico.

Bioluminescent Bay is located in the island of Puerto Rico and there are 3 places that have these awesome display of emerald green beauty: in Fajardo, in Vieques and in Lajas. Recently, it was reported though that Bioluminescent Bay or Bio Bay has gone nearly dark. But why?

Bio Bay is being considered as the best example of a Bioluminescent Bay and is also known as one of the National Landmark in Puerto Rico. When the water is disturb, the water glows. This is because of the microorganism called Dinoflagellates. It will generate an emerald green once the water is disturb.

The emerald green light is actually the chemical response of flagellates. When there is less light from the surrounding area, the more glowing the microorganism is.

Check out this lucky lady. who created an angel out of herself. Flagellates are harmless so; if you travel from far away just to visit Puerto Rico, you should not dare miss this place.

Bay Bridge on Highway 90

The bridge that spans the Biloxi Bay between Biloxi and Ocean Springs on Highway 90 is really a great improvement from the old bridge that was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. The bridge is very impressive when you approach it from either side. The middle span of the bridge rises to over 90 feet high allowing large boats or barges to pass underneath with no problem. The old bridge that was destroyed was a drawbridge that would have to be open for large tugboats or shrimp boats.

I was also impressed with the walkway that was built on the bridge allowing pedestrians to walk or jog across. I have traveled on this bridge at many different times of the day from early morning to late at night and have always seen people walking across in all kinds of weather. Many charitable organizations also use the bridge for jogging events. The bridge can be seen from the hotels of many of the casinos and is quite an impressive sight at night with all the lights they have on it. So if you're in the area of Biloxi or Ocean Springs, MS and want to have an enjoyable walk or jog, check out the Bay Bridge I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Panama Beach Florida

If you are looking for a beach in Florida to spend a relaxing vacation, there are hundreds of them. If you want a beach with a sunset view by the gulf where you can enjoy shopping as well, check out Panama Beach. It is gorgeous here and you don't need to book a hotel if it is off season. Hotels are too many to mention and varies in prices. What I have in here has a beach view with WiFi access for only $89. Great deal right?

 

Port Lucaya, Bahamas

Port Lucaya is located in the Bahamas. If you are cruising and you are routing to Freeport, Port Lucaya will be your first stop because it has a popular marketplace. My wife and I rode a van and we paid $10 each for both ways. We went to Treasure Bay Casino first and I played the slot machine. Then, we went to the Market Place which is right across the street. There are luxury hotels surrounding the market place and if you have a laptop or an iPad, the hotels are a welcome sight for they have a free Wi-Fi which you can use for last minute browsing. The picture below is part of Port Lucaya Marina.The small marketplace offers dining and shopping. We did not try their local food though. There are gift shops selling souvenir items such as the Bahamian straw hats, Freeport signature caps and beach towels. My wife bought 3 caps with Freeport name on it as her souvenir. We went in to check the amenities at the Westin and Sheraton Hotel and Port Lucaya Resort and Yacht Club. Both hotels are in a good location and very elegant.

There are so many things to do in Port Lucaya. There is gaming and water sports for ocean lovers. They offer Reef Tours, diving as well as snorkeling. This place is the home for dolphin experience. If you are interested to observe the dolphin up close, make a reservation at UNEXSO, the Underwater Explorer's Society. We went back to the Freeport Harbour after 4 hours of exploring the Port Lucaya Marketplace and Port Lucaya Marina.

Corrigidor Island

Corrigidor is an island in the Philippines, located at the mouth of Manila Bay in southwestern Luzon. It is the largest island that form the defense for Manila Bay.

During the second world war, the island played an important role during the liberation invasion to take back the Philippines from the Japanese. I remembered my uncle telling me about this Island while he was assigned here. The island was heavily bombarded during the second world war and the ruins of war were left standing to serve as a memorial for the soldiers who lost their lives in this island. It is a very important historical site and is visited by many tourist. There is a huge national cemetery for the Americans that died on this island.

The island today is visited by many World War II veterans because of his history and importance. There are several companies that offer tours on the island featuring military installation that were used during World War II in fact, you can still see many of the bombed out structures as they have not been restored and were left this way to honor the Filipino and American soldiers. Standing on the highest point of the island is the Pacific War Memorial. It was built by the United States to honor the Filipino and American soldiers who participated in World War II.

There is an eternal flame located behind the memorial that symbolizes the freedom for which the soldiers fought and died.

If you want a memorable experience, visit the island of Corregidor in the Philippines. There is a popular hotel called Corregidor Inn and has about 30 rooms and one suite. All rooms are air-conditioned and you may have lunch at the the La Playa restaurant. It has a very nice and relaxing atmosphere.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

This week I had to travel to Miami, Florida from Cocoa Beach. On my way back, I decided to take the scenic route on A1A. I was glad that I did for we ended up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is enchanting and we found a beautiful beach with clear blue-green water and sugar white sand. Even though it was getting late in the season, we did find quite a few tourists who were enjoying the beach. The area had the usual amenities such as beach chairs and umbrellas for rent as well as jet skis and paddle boats.We had lunch at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant which was a pleasant experience. We dined in their outdoor patio to enjoy the beach views and sunshine. The food was well prepared and tasty. I tried their spicy shrimp with garlic bread and their special hush puppies. Both were very good and quite affordable. If you are traveling on the scenic route along the coast, be sure to stop at Fort Lauderdale. There are many restaurants and activities to choose from. You won't be disappointed.

Mall of Asia

If you are visiting the Philippines and happened to be in Manila maybe you're feeling a little homesick we have just the cure for you. Take a taxi and tell the driver to drop you off at the Mall of Asia. You will feel like you are back in the good old USA.
The Mall of Asia is the second largest mall in the Philippines and the third largest shopping mall in Asia. It covers an area of 42 acres the average daily foot traffic is about 200,000 people.

The mall includes branches of all the standard stores that you would find in any supermall. Many American companies such as Mc Donalds the Gap and even Victoria's Secret are located in the Mall of Asia if that doesn't cure your homesick nothing will. The Jolly bee the Philippine version of McDonnell and also Yellow Cab Pizza can be found there these are unique little restaurants that I'm sure you will enjoy I know I did.

This mall also has an IMAX theatre which has one of the world's biggest screens. There is also six regular movie theaters like you would find in the United States. Also located in the mall is an Olympic size skating rink which can accommodate recreational skaters and also where ice hockey is played. There is also an open air music Hall that faces the sea for your enjoyment.

So don't just sit around your hotel room watching television pay a visit to the Mall of Asia there are so many activities it will take a lease a couple of days to enjoy them all.

Be Aware of your Surroundings

I enjoy traveling and writing about different exotic places in the world especially islands. I think while traveling to these faraway places you must really be aware of your surroundings and always on guard.

On Sunday while reading my paper I came across an article about to French tourist both of them women brutally murdered in Salta, Argentina my sympathies and condolences go out to the victims and their families. These two young women in their 30s were hiking in the mountains and enjoying the beauty of Argentina. But you have to remember there are always monsters out there waiting for their opportunity to strike. That is why you must be aware of your surroundings when visiting some of these third world countries like traveling in groups or with male counterparts. So my friends don't be afraid to travel the world and visited exotic place just be careful and keep one eye open at all-times.

The islands are divided into three groups Luzon,Visayas and Mindanao with the capital being located in Manila. The Philippines are located between the Philippines sea and the South China Sea. The Philippines are often overlooked by travelers because of its location but it is truly one of the great treasures of Southeast Asia.
